Rowena Davis - Thursday, January 12, 2012

Better Talk - 7 & 8 March, London

For leaders, managers, consultants, educators, clinicians, social workers & curious people

SAVI® – The System for Analyzing Verbal Interaction – is a unique and powerful tool for mapping and contributing to more productive and satisfying conversations in all aspects of work and life. (www.savicommunications.com)

The workshop will offer ‘ahas’ into why some meetings and conversations work and are satisfying, while others get stuck and are dissatisfying.

Participants will use the SAVI tool to:

  • Track communication patterns
  • See why some conversations work and others get stuck
  • Try out new verbal behaviours
  • Reduce 'noisy' communication & lower stress & irritation
  • Role play conversations & meetings so more information gets heard & problems get solved more easily
  • Have fun learning this new tool & co-creating a collaborative learning environment

Rowena Davis will lead the workshop. She is a certified SAVI trainer and an experience organisational consultant.

Comments from the last workshop she ran in Amsterdam in October 2011. ‘Good group, great tool, fantastic teacher/ trainer’; 'Satisfied by the amount of new information; the practising; interactive lectures; Fish Bowls; reflecting on patterns and strategies’. ‘Liked the completeness of the grid; the manual; practising a lot.’

Coaching - a skill, not just an add-on

Rowena Davis - Tuesday, July 05, 2011
Running a workshop recently brought home how much practice becoming an effective coach takes.

The participants worked in triads each taking turns at being the coach, the client and the observer. The coach sometimes found it hard to keep on task and only focussed at the feeling level. Other times they drove through the task and ignored their own or the client's gut level experience. Often they steered the client, rather than asking open questions or offering choices and letting the client discover their answer.

This brought home what a tough job it is for people in organisations to become coaches without sufficient support or coaching themselves

Changes to our website (www.rdaconsulting.net)

Rowena Davis - Thursday, June 30, 2011
Over the last year increasing numbers of people have been accessing the RDA website.

In response to this, and in line with providing access to information in the manner and at a time that suits YOU we plan to expand the website to include more features and more regular updates of what is going on at RDA.

Plans are afoot for the following:

  • Regular posts to this blog concerning RDA and hot topics associated with organisational change
  • The creation of a Discussion Forum for associates, clients and colleagues interested in debating / dissecting recent activity in our field
  • Secure areas for clients to access project related information
We'd love to hear from you with any suggestions for other topics or content that you'd like to see.

Either comment on this post, or contribute to the discussion here.

Welcome to the RDA Blog

Rowena Davis - Sunday, June 12, 2011
RDA helps clients work with both the planned and the unplanned sides of organisational life. We work in an open, collaborative way. We pool our own and our clients' analytical thinking and intuitive common sense. We findpractical, creative solutions people can work with.

We intend to use this blog to communicate with clients, associates and interested parties our take on recent hot topics affecting our field.

Comments will always be welcome but, understandably, moderated - so please be patient - we will review your responses as soon as possible, so do check back.
